Landshut Lorberer

Die Lorberer aus Landshut

Probable link

It is unclear whether there is just a coincidence of names or a previously unknown connection, for example, to Strasbourg or Bambergern consists. It is worth noting, however, that the name "Lorber" is still mentioned in the document from 1462. Only later did the name appear to have changed to "Lorber" according to the Bavarian dialect.

Probable progenitor

The "Lorbers" are first mentioned in 1439 in Landshut [1]. It was a patrician family, whose coat of arms can still be seen in the glass roof of the town hall. At that time, Landshut was the most successful residential city of the then three ducal cities of Wittelsbach, Reich among other things through the salt trade.

Werdegang

Sie scheinen ebenso schnell und geheimnisvoll wieder zu verschwinden, wie sie gekommen sind. Es sind noch zwei Grabsteine im alten Friedhof der Stadt rund um St. Martin erhalten.

Outstanding biographies

  • Ludwig Lorber, 1462 councilor and citizen of Landshut [2]
  • Wolfgang Lorberer (died 1523), 1509 mayor and councilor, buried with his wife Agnes in the Martinsfriedhof in Landshut [3]

Spread today

It is not clear whether descendants of this family exist.

It was a coincidence that in the 19th century Carl Sigmund Lorber became a namesake mayor of Landshut. It is proven that he is a descendant of the Waischenfelder Astes.
