Der 100ste Geburtstag / The 100th Birthday

My great aunt, Sylvia Lorber Egnal (also known far and wide as Shosho), passed away Monday night, at the age of 103. Some of you knew her; many of you have heard me talk about her. She lived a truly amazing life, remarkable not just for its length. Part of me wasn’t totally sure that the day would actually come when she would no longer be with us; now that she has passed, I wanted to share a little of her with you. I invite you to watch the video linked below. It was shot at her 100th birthday party; it begins with a speech by her daughter, Bette, followed by a toast from her brother, Stan (who was only 93 at the time, and is still with us). I hope you will get a little flavor of some of the love and humor enjoyed by my extended family. Sam
